The Problems of Life Without Sex

“Intercourse” and “affection” are normally not synonymous. Nor are “sex” and “happiness,” as anyone who lives a sexually active life can attest. Worldwide research (1) turns up plentiful evidence for the challenges connected to intercourse and sexual relationships: the USA Divorce Rate is 50%, as is the percentage of “Unfaithfulness” in marriage or a “dedicated relationship.” Different countries do not have much to boast about on this respect either, with “Unfaithfulness” charges starting from forty% of sexually lively sixteen-forty five yr previous Germans admitting to having been sexually untrue, forty two% of British, forty% of Mexicans, 36% of the French, and 22% of the Spanish.

So, as one research report asks, “Where’s the fun?” and “What is a sexually fulfilling life?” Nobody, scientifically talking, knows. Questions that will elicit encouraging solutions to these questions are either not being asked, or are unanswerable.

What is evident are the emotional costs of sexual exercise and the serious threats of disease. In addition, when religion and penal codes are introduced into the image, intercourse is dangerous territory, indeed. Eight nations prescribe the death penalty for homosexuality: Afghanistan, Iran, Mauritania, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, United Arab Emirates, Yemen. And, 4 countries have a death penalty for adultery: Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen. Religion has plenty to say about sex, too: “In 1995 the Church of England denied a homosexual the appropriate to be godfather to his sister’s son.
